What role does Sunstein play in science policy? He didn't object to hunting for food in the YouTube clip, so why do you think he objects to animal use in medical research? See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cass_Sunstein

While vaccines do not cause autism, public fears, even if irrational, can cause people to refuse to get vaccinated. On the ethanol issue, I agree with Alex. But Obama's views may be shaped more by his Illinois roots than his liberalism. On polar bears see: http://www.polarbearsinternational.org/ask-the-experts/population/

From stem cell funding to climate change scientists are very happy to have a pro-science President whether they agree with his political philosophy or not.

Alex, Alex, Alex, you have completely missed how the world works here. You can't turn around the American society in 10 months. I'm fairly sure that government can't do it no matter what. Recently, there was one day where all of America realized we all screwed up and the economy was in the dumper. Restaurants, remodels and art sales crashed on that one day. Someday soon, there is going to be a realization in America that we are playing video games and watching pay for view, while our world leadership goes away. On that day, the American people will get to decide if they are going to work much harder or stop being the only Superpower on Earth. The government has almost nothing to do with this.

One decision in Spain makes 20% unemployment? Excuse me, I think not. Obama is supposed to reach through a million layers of bureaucracy and magically fix the vaccine mess, do you have any idea how bureaucracy works? The EPA was gutted under "W" (as you know), and I don't see Obama playing the Alaska oil card. As we know, the amount of oil in Alaska is statistically insignificant to the problems we have. Biofuel is subsidized and will continue to be until the first presidential picking method is moved out of corn country. You might as well argue that all farm subsidies should be dropped. I'm surprised you didn't mention that Obama should stop the special interests buying politicians too.

It is nice to be a young and think that Obama will fix all the problems in the world in less time than it takes to get a diploma mill MBA. But, is that a realistic view of the world? I don't think so. I think the problems that exist are largely beyond the government. I'm hoping the researchers, entrepreneurs and engineers fix them, that might work.
